I’m currently in NYC doing a research rotation with the Doctor Oz show for 4 weeks. I’ve been getting a lot of questions and DMs on Instagram about it, so I figured I’d answer the most frequently asked questions here!

So I definitely fell off of updating the Med School Diaries toward the end of third year. Things got hectic and crazy, but I’m back. Here’s a quick recap

I recently completed my Pediatrics rotation, and it was great! For those who may not already know, I’m interested in specializing in peds, so you already know ya girl was ready for this rotation. Here’s how it went.

So this post is over a month late, so this is awkward. But better late than never, right? When I started my family medicine rotation,  I wasn't 100% sure what it would entail.  

It’s been 2 weeks since I finished up my psychiatry rotation. I was assigned to the consultations & liaison service. 

Last Tuesday, I had the pleasure of organizing SNMA (Howard University chapter)'s annual Halloween Harvest fall festival. This year we had 17 student run organizations from both the medical and dental schools plan fun games and activities for kids from a local elementary school!

Eight long, demanding, yet rewarding weeks later and I’m done with my surgery rotation.

So this week, I got to visit Galludet University as part of my psychiatry rotation. For those that aren’t aware, Galludet is considered the“mecca” of schools for the  deaf and hearing impaired.

It's been a full week since I started my first clinical rotation of 3rd year: surgery. I started on the CT/Vasc (Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery) service.

So 2 weeks ago I attended SNMA's Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC), and had a blast! 

So I posted earlier about  being the  YSEP (Youth Science Enrichment Program) Co-coordinator this past year for our school's SNMA chapter.  

Second year is coming to a close (Thank God!), so the next couple of posts will be dedicated to some of the opportunities I was blessed enough to experience over the past school year.

 

When you thought it was just another ordinary play play day in preceptorship (shadowing)...

Often times my mentees ask me what day to day medical school  is like.

So last week's Intro to Clinical Medicine (ICM) session was... interesting. 

Just coming back from the regional Medical Education Conference hosted by UMD's chapter of the Student National Medical Association.  

One of the perks of being a med student is always having an excuse to avoid undesirable social engagements like expensive birthday dinners or bar mitzvahs.

So we're in the pulmonary unit now learning about infectious diseases of the lung and what not.

So yesterday I took a personal day  after having studied endlessly for exams this past weeked.
